Process for the development and approval of instructional contract programs
Effective July 1, 2009, the campus has identified a new process for the development and approval of contractually delivered programs of credit instruction. Managed jointly by the Office of Business Development Services and the Office of Continuing Education (within the School of Continuing Studies) the new process provides for early-stage assessment of proposed program ideas to assure academic and financial viability. The process consists of a set of standardized protocols and template documents that will expedite negotiations with external partners and preparation of the required contract materials.
Early involvement of OBDS and SCS in the planning of these programs is critical to ensuring that they are well designed and developed in a suitably prompt and responsive manner. If faculty in your academic unit are currently working with an external partner on an instructional contract program, please refer them to either OBDS or SCS to begin the process. If you have questions about an instructional contract program in your unit, or would like OBDS and SCS to provide an orientation to the new process for your faculty and administrative staff, please contact either Nancy Downs at (312) 996-5749 or Nicole Williams at (312) 996-5082.
